we are old is a trio operating at the intersection of complex rhythmic structures and distilled musical ideas. Alto saxophonist Elio Amberg, double bassist Xaver Rüegg and drummer Paul Amereller have been working together for over five years, developing a precise, dynamic and clearly identifiable band sound.

Their music moves fluidly between composed material and improvisation, shaped by repetition, abstraction and a strong, energetic pulse. Form and intention are central, while the music remains open, flexible and alive in the moment. The precision and physicality of sounds combined with a shared sense of direction in their playing gives we are old’s music urgency and clarity.
